Closing 2024, Preparing for 2025

As 2024 nears its end, the horizon in agriculture is still wide open, with much to accomplish. At SISTAGRO, we remain future-focused, keeping our sights on the opportunities yet to come. This year has been pivotal for us, offering the chance to consolidate our experience as a boutique consulting firm, specialized in supporting diverse client profiles in the Iberian agricultural sector.

It is important to make no mistake, the challenges ahead are significant. Agriculture continually teaches us that patience, an understanding of project timelines, and a deep connection to the land are essential to managing expectations and avoiding pitfalls.

This year, SISTAGRO has significantly expanded our client base, diversifying our work areas, services, regions, crops, and client profiles. We have undertaken a wide range of projects spanning various scopes, land areas, crops, and locations. In 2024 alone, we worked across more than 5.000 hectares of farmland in seven regions of Spain and Portugal. Our work emphasizes understanding agriculture in its many facets, driven by humility, precision, and a genuine willingness to contribute.

We are proud to have worked with over ten different crops this year, including pistachios, almonds, olives, vineyards, avocados, mangoes, leafy vegetables, and cereals. These projects involved irrigated and rain-fed systems, as well as mixed crop-livestock operations. Agriculture is inherently diverse, and this diversity fosters resilience - a hallmark of its millennia long endurance. It’s a privilege to be part of such a dynamic world that constantly evolves while staying true to its essence: a calling to steward the land.

Above all, we enjoy the journey, and this passion is reflected in our work. We take pride in growing sustainably, meeting market needs with a team that continues to expand, building multidisciplinary expertise. Our team is composed of dedicated professionals, both in-house and external, thanks to the collaboration of many independent specialists who supported us this year.

We are especially grateful to everyone who continues to believe in SISTAGRO: first and foremost, our clients, the driving force of our company, but also those who, in one way or another, have helped propel this project into its third year with renewed motivation and strong confidence in our team, methods, and ongoing projects.

In 2024, we also deepened our partnerships with technological collaborators, enhancing the range of services we offer our clients. A special thanks to Wiseconn Iberia, which joined us this year as a technology partner for irrigation digitalization and automation.

As the year ends, we are taking our first steps in comprehensive farm management while strengthening our consulting and advisory services for investors and farmers. We’ve refined our analysis methods, reporting practices, and working models. Additionally, we’ve inaugurated new offices, thanks to the continued support of Cortijo La Reina, which anchors us firmly while enabling cohesive and consistent growth - an invaluable asset.

Looking ahead to 2025, the agricultural sector faces significant challenges. Economic slowdowns in Europe, the aging rural workforce, labor shortages, and reduced support from the Common Agricultural Policy pose obstacles. Simultaneously, key issues such as access to technology, legal uncertainties, and inflated project valuations will certainly erode competitiveness. These realities demand pragmatic and constructive alternatives, centered on agronomy and sound judgment, to help our clients set realistic expectations.

We will continue to work independently, avoiding fleeting trends and buzzwords, and focusing on agriculture that thrives beyond subsidies. We aim to innovate while respecting the tried-and-true practices that serve as a solid foundation for progress. With engineering, creativity, and hard work, we are confident in moving forward despite the challenges.

At SISTAGRO, we are committed to growth with grounded realism, fostering a team rooted in strong human values, professionalism, and dedication to excellence. We adapt flexibly to meet the diverse realities of our clients. As the consulting arm of Cortijo La Reina, we proudly carry the legacy of this unique company - a legacy built on advanced technical expertise and a long-term vision, cultivating enduring professional relationships and upholding a culture of excellence in professionalism and ethics.

For 2025, we promise to maintain our focus on quality, methodical and systematic approaches, and services of the highest technical and scientific rigor. Agronomy will remain at the heart of all we do. To those already with us, we thank you for staying close. To those yet to join, know that our doors are always open to those who approach with goodwill.

Wishing you a joyful and blessed Christmas season, and here’s to a successful 2025.

Córdoba, December 2024.
